Butch Jones Career
Jones has had a successful coaching career that has spanned over 30 years.
Jones started his coaching career in 1990, as an intern for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL), under head coach Ray Perkins.
In 1993, he joined the Rutgers as a graduate assistant, before he became an offensive coordinator at Wilkes University, where he led the team to the Division III playoffs.

In 1995, he began coaching Ferris State as a running back coach and later as an offensive coordinator.
Jones has additionally coached Central Michigan (from 1999 to 2004, and 2010 to 2012), West Virginia, Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Alabama.
The American-born coach had played college football for the FSU Bulldogs at Ferris State University, as a running back, wide receiver, cornerback, from 1987 to 1989.
Jones’ current head coaching record shows an overall of 89–74.
