The company’s former creative director, actress, and director Marti Maraden, 78, passed away on Thursday while traveling to Sweden to see family.

Maraden was born in California, where he later moved to Canada. Six years later, under the artistic direction of Jean Gascon, she became a member of the Stratford Festival as an actor, taking on roles such as Katharine in Love’s Labour’s Lost and Antiochus’ Daughter in Pericles, among others.
