A football community is in grief following the terrible death of Tasmanian footy star Damien Medwin in a vehicle accident.

At before 9.30am on Sunday, Medwin’s silver Ford Territory was found partially buried in a small lake in Smithton, in the northwest of Tasmania. According to preliminary investigations, the car was moving west on Blackline Road when it went off the road and crashed into the sea, according to Tasmania Police.

A crash investigation is being done as per standard procedure to ascertain the cause of the collision, and police will write a report for the coroner (who will ascertain the cause of death),’ a police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia. The footballer had always been the life of the party and the first to put a good spin on events, according to the event’s organizer Nic Bellinger.

Hudson, Jordy, and Marni, the couple’s three small children, as well as the 38-year-old father of three, are still living.
Medwin most recently served as a player and assistant coach with the Circular Head Football Club after serving as a senior assistant at the Forest-Stanley Football Club.
