Jessica Gordon-Brown stunned the audience with her massive lifts and even more massive backflips en route to a silver medal in Birmingham 2022.

With a now-famous backflip, Gordon-Brown celebrated her second-place finish in the women’s -59 kg division and her first medal in the weightlifting world.

After dabbling in judo and gymnastics earlier, the 26-year-old only took up the sport in her final year of study at Brighton University for Sport Product Design.

The Harefield native, however, has not looked back since, taking first place in her weight division at the British University Championships on her debut before taking home her maiden national senior gold in 2021. Having started at 107 kg, Jess made 109 kg on her second effort, and after a challenging clean, she successfully executed the jerk on her last 111 kg attempt.
