On her path to a silver medal at Birmingham 2022, Jessica Gordon-Brown dazzled the audience with her huge lifts and even larger backflips.

Gordon-Brown achieved her first medal in the women’s -59kg division by placing second, and she celebrated by performing the now-famous backflip.

The 26-year-old, who had previously dabbled in judo and gymnastics, only attempted the sport during her final year of study at Brighton University for Sport Product Design.

The Harefield native, however, has not looked back since, taking first place in her weight division in the British University Championships on her professional debut before taking home her maiden national senior title in 2021. Jess began with 107 kg, reached 109 kg on her second effort, then, following a challenging clean, successfully executed the jerk on her final 111 kg attempt.
