In 1990, he was elected to the Hall of Fame for horse racing thanks to the accomplishments of his racehorses, which also broke records. Additionally, from 2004 to 2006, he presided over the National Steeplechase Association, which presented him with the F. Ambrose Clark Award in 2013 in recognition of his achievements to the sport.
