Sebastian Arcelus, an American actor who was born on November 5, 1976, is best known for his performances as Jay Whitman on the CBS television drama Madam Secretary (2014–2019) and Lucas Goodwin in the Netflix television series House of Cards (2013–2016).

Arcelus started acting in the early 2000s and spent the first ten years of his career on Broadway, where he performed in such shows as Rent, Fiyero in Wicked, Jersey Boys, and Buddy in Elf, among others. With the Into the Woods revival in 2022 and its ensuing national tour, he made a comeback on Broadway.

Arcelus has had a successful career in theater both nationally and abroad. He started his career in the early 2000s and spent three years working for a multinational corporation while still attending nighttime theater auditions and acting in amateur productions.
