Who Is Djimon Hounsou?

Djimon Hounsou is an award-winning actor cum model who rose to fame after he starred as Cinqué in the Steven Spielberg film Amistad, and as Juba in the epic historical film Gladiator.

Djimon was born on April 24, 1964, in Cotonou, Dahomey, and began his journey into entertainment by appearing in music videos.

Djimon made his film debut in the 1990 film Without You I’m Nothing. The film had propelled him into taking more roles, and in 1997, he appeared in the film Amistad, which gave him widespread recognition.

Ever since, Djimon has starred in many films and TV series including “Gladiator, In America, Blood Diamond, Furious 7, Forces spéciales, Constantine, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, What If…?, Aquaman, Shazam!, Black Adam, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”

In the Marvel Studios film Captain Marvel, Djimon starred as Korath.

In the 2019 film Shazam!, Djimon was cast as Wizard Shazam. In 2022, he reprised his role in Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023).
