Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, a.k.a. Joe the Plumber after confronting then-candidate for president Barack Obama, passed away on Sunday.

He was a conservative activist and commentator from the United States. He became well-known under the moniker “Joe the Plumber” after challenging Obama on the 2008 campaign trail. He was given the news that he had pancreatic cancer in July, and he passed away on Sunday morning.
When Wurzelbacher challenged Obama in Toledo, Ohio, during his 2008 presidential campaign, in front of a throng of reporters, he shot to national celebrity. He claimed that the American Dream was at odds with the presidential candidate’s suggested tax policy. Obama was questioned by a small company owner about how his new tax policy will effect taxpayers who make more than $250,000.

Wurzelbacher received a pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 2022. On August 27, 2023, he passed away at home in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, at the age of 49. When Wurzelbacher challenged Obama at an Ohio campaign stop in 2008, he shot to fame. Obama’s tax plan, according to him, is in opposition to the American dream. Obama argued in opposition that the proposal would hasten the expansion of small enterprises.
