Five-time GBL champion Ioannis Papapetrou was born to his parents, Argiris Papapetrou and Anastasia Papapetrou.

Argiris Papapetrou
Papapetrou’s father, Argiris is a former professional basketball player, who played as a power forward and center for Panathinaikos and the Greece national basketball team.
After retiring from the game, he began coaching and served as head coach of Panathinaikos Women, during the 2005–06 season.
Anastasia Papapetrou
Papapetrou’s mother, Anastasia, had played football in Greece during her time.
About Ioannis Papapetrou
Ioannis Papapetrou has represented the Greek national team in several competitions since 2009.
He has played at the FIBA Europe Championship, the Turin FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the EuroBasket, and the FIBA World Cup qualification.

Papapetrou is still regarded as one of the most talented Greek players in the league.
Papapetrou plays both as a small forward and a power forward for Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague.
Papapetrou first played with Panathinaikos in 2018, following a three-year contract. With the team, he won his first title during the Greek Cup Final in 2019.
He additionally played for Olympiacos, and Partizan Belgrade, where he averaged 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 20 minutes per game. He had also helped Partizan to win the ABA League championship trophy in the 2022–23 season.
In 2023, Papapetrou made a comeback to Panathinaikos and signed a two-year deal.
