Terrence Funk was an American professional wrestler who competed from June 30, 1944, until August 23, 2023. He was well-known for both the length of his career—which lasted more than 50 years and involved several hasty retirements—and the revolutionary hardcore wrestling style he helped establish in the latter stages of it. He is regarded as one of the all-time best professional wrestlers.

In addition to the WWF World Tag Team Championship, Funk also holds the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, NWA World Heavyweight Championship, USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship, and ECW World Television Championship. Three times, November to Remember, ECW’s annual pay-per-view show, featured him as the main event. Funk has been honored by the WWE, WCW, NWA, and Hardcore among other halls of fame.

Terry Funk, a legendary wrestler for the WWE, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 79, his manager Timothy Beal informed CBS News. However, Beal stated that Funk “was in bad health for some time” and was “in a nursing home.” His cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

Funk’s passing was also confirmed by the WWE in a statement.
