Fouts broke a number of records while playing college football for the Oregon Ducks, and he was later inducted into both the University of Oregon Hall of Fame and the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.

When he accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Oregon to play for the Ducks in Eugene, Fouts was a bit of an unknown. In his first year (1969), he made his debut with the freshman squad.

Fouts made his debut on the big screen in 1998 when he played himself in the Adam Sandler-led football comedy The Waterboy.
