At age 20, he got married to Primrose May Oxtoby. The duo were married until his death in prison in 2004. They were also blessed with four children.

Harold Shipman was a medical practitioner who gained a reputation as a trusted and caring doctor in the community, but was later convicted of the murdering hundreds of patients under his care.

Shipman graduated from Leeds School of Medicine and later worked at various hospitals in the UK as far back as the 1970s.

Shipman’s career took a dark turn when he began administering lethal doses of medications to his patients, leading to their death.

Shipman’s crimes came to light in 1998, after almost 25 years of going unnoticed. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2000.

The Shipman Inquiry which was an investigative panel set up to examine Shipman’s crimes, disclosed that Shipman targeted vulnerable elderly people whom he murdered by “prescribing a fatal dose of drugs.”

Shipman as a result, earned the nickname “Dr. Death” and “The Angel of Death”.

Shipman committed suicide in his prison cell in January 2004. His remains were cremated on 19 March 2005 at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium.
