Vaishali was born in a Tamil family in Chennai. Their father, Rameshbabu, works at TNSC Bank as a branch manager. Their mother, Nagalakshmi, is a homemaker.
Vaishali Rameshbabu holds the FIDE titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM). She won the Girls’ World Youth Chess Championship for Under-12s in 2012 and the Girls’ World Youth Chess Championship for Under-14s in 2015.

She was named Woman International Master (WIM) in 2016. She is ranked second in India and the World No.12 girl U16-player as of October 2016. She had an Elo rating of 2300 at the time.
On August 12, 2018, she earned a Woman Grandmaster (WGM) after achieving her last norm at the Riga Technical University Open chess tournament in Riga, Latvia.
Vaishali was a member of the gold-medal-winning team in the Online Olympiad 2020, when India won its first medal. In 2021, she was awarded the designation of International Master (IM). Vaishali won the 8th Fischer Memorial in 2022, scoring 7.0/9 and achieving her second Grandmaster norm.
