Luisa González is one of Ecuador’s presidential candidates in the 2023 general election.

Gonzalez was born on November 22, 1977, in Quito, Ecuador, and became a member of the National Assembly in 2021, representing the Province of Manabi.

González declared her intention to run for president in the 2023 election, in June 2023, following the end of her tenure at the National Assembly.

She emerged first place in the first round of voting against Daniel Noboa in the run off elections.

Gonzalez studied Law at the International University of Ecuador, and obtained a master’s degree from the Institute of Higher National Studies in Ecuador, and a second master’s degree in economics from Complutense University of Madrid in Spain.

Upon graduation, she worked at a bank in Spain, as a research assistant at the International University of Ecuador, and later as the Ecuadorian general counsel in Spain.
