Luisa González is a politician and lawyer currently running for the position of President of Ecuador in the 2023 general election.

Born on November 22, 1977, in Quito, Ecuador, Gonzalez became a member of the National Assembly in 2021 after the legislative elections.

Since then, she has represented the Province of Manabi.

Before venturing into politics, Gonzalez worked at a bank in Spain, as a research assistant at the International University of Ecuador, and later as the Ecuadorian general counsel in Spain.

González has formerly served in many positions including Secretary of Public Administration, during the regime of Rafael Correa.

Gonzalez additionally held other positions in the Tourism Ministry.

González declared her intention to run for president in the 2023 election, in June 2023, following the end of her tenure at the National Assembly.

She emerged first place in the first round of voting against Daniel Noboa in the run off elections.
