James Leavey, who passed away at the age of 75, was a raconteur, actor, blogger, broadcaster, journalist, writer, and cigar enthusiast.

Before studying acting at Mountview Theatre School in north London from 1968 to 1970, he began his career’s twisting course in 1964 as the road manager for The Villains, a band made up of his schoolmates.

On Mountview’s first coast-to-coast tour of the US in 1970, James played Shakespeare in basketball arenas in addition to appearing in a number of London productions and working backstage and in front of house for West End productions of Cabaret, The Sound of Music, and Fiddler on the Roof. At the English National Opera in the 1990s, he performed his last theatrical performance backstage. In 2015, he won The Snow Queen Cigar Writer of the Year honor.
