James Leavey wife: Who is Gwenda Silsby?

Journalist, author, actor, blogger, broadcaster, cigar enthusiast, and raconteur James Leavey passed away at the age of 75.

His career path took a meandering turn in 1964 when he took on the role of tour manager for The Villains, a band made up of his schoolmates.

From 1968 to 1970, he studied acting at Mountview Theatre School in north London. James played Shakespeare in basketball arenas on Mountview’s first coast-to-coast tour of the United States in 1970, in addition to appearing in a number of London plays and working backstage and in front of house for West End performances of Cabaret, The Sound of Music, and Fiddler on the Roof. Backstage at the English National Opera in the 1990s was where he did his last theatrical performance. The Snow Queen Cigar Writer of the Year honor was given to him in 2015.

James’ first marriage ended in divorce, and in 1992, while both of them were members of a social club called London Village, he met Gwenda Silsby, the woman who would become his second wife. In 1994, they got hitched. He worked as a volunteer radio host for Hospital Radio Barnet, Great Ormond Street Hospital Radio, and Angel Community Radio on the Isle of Wight, where he spent his later years with Gwenda, from 1988 until 2009.
