Nate Oats is an American basketball coach. Nate is the son of Larry and Collen O’Neil Oats.

Nate was raised in a Christian household. Larry Oats, his father, was a major member of the Maranatha ministry.
His parents married in 1969 after meeting while studying at Maranatha Baptist. In 2019, the pair celebrated their golden jubilee anniversary. His father holds a Ph.D. in theology and is a professor at Maranatha Baptist Seminary.
Larry has held a variety of positions on the faculty, including admissions worker, Academy principal, Director of various departments, and Dean of Students, among others, all while continuing to teach Bible.

Nate Oats is currently the head basketball coach at the University of Alabama. Prior to Alabama he was the head coach at the University at Buffalo.
Oats led the Buffalo Bulls to a 28-3 record throughout the 2018-19 regular season and was voted the 2019 MAC Coach of the Year. Oats signed a contract extension with the University of Buffalo on March 14, 2019, to remain head basketball coach until the 2024 season.
