She retired from professional gymnastics in 2012, and has since pursued other ventures like coaching, modeling, and sports commentary.

She holds the record of the most medals in a single non-boycotted Olympic Game.
Aside from her sporting achievements, Liukin owns her brand of gymnastics equipment, including mats, bars and balance beams in her signature pink, produced by American Athletic, Inc.”
She has also authored her autobiography, Finding My Shine.
Liukin now works as an analyst for NBC Sports Group, covering gymnastics events.
In 2023, she appeared on the FOX reality show Special Forces alongside other celebrities.
