Michael McDowell is an American racing driver who has made a significant impact on the world of motorsports. He is the son of Bill McDowell and Tracy McDowell.

He began racing BMX bicycles at the age of three. McDowell began karting when he was eight years old, with the assistance of his mother Tracy, father Bill, and older brother Billy, all of whom were passionate race fans.
Michael McDowell did not just the World Karting Association title, but also back-to-back undefeated International Kart Federation championships, as well as 18 consecutive feature wins, after ten years in karts.

Michael McDowell began his racing career in open-wheel cars, competing in Formula Renault and Champ Car, as well as in sports cars such as the Rolex Sports Car Series and the 24 Hours of Daytona.
He made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2008 and has since established himself as a respected and competitive driver in the series. In 2016, he also won the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
One of the defining moments of his career occurred in 2021 when he won the prestigious Daytona 500, one of the most celebrated and challenging races on the NASCAR calendar.
McDowell began the 2023 season with a 28th-place result in the Daytona 500. He dominated the Indianapolis road race, advancing to the playoffs and scoring his second career victory.
