American singer, composer, and former artistic gymnast Carly Rae Patterson. She won the all-around title in the 2004 Olympics, becoming the first American to do so in an Olympics that wasn’t boycotted. She is also a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

In 1994, Patterson took up the sport after going to a cousin’s birthday celebration at the Elite Gymnastics gym in Baton Rouge.
In the balancing beam competition final on August 23, 2004, Patterson placed second to Cătălina Ponor of Romania with a score of 9.775.
After the Olympics, she appeared on the television program Hollywood at Home in December 2011. As the spokesperson for their 2012 organ donation challenge, Patterson partnered with the Taylor’s Gift Foundation.
