Gudaf Tsegay Desta is an Ethiopian middle and long-distance runner. She is a bronze medalist in the women’s 5000 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Tsegay won bronze in the 1500 m at the World Athletics Championships in 2019, silver in the same event, and gold in the 5000 m in 2022.
Tsegay, 16, ran the world’s fastest under-18 indoor 1500-meter time of 4:08.47 in Stockholm in February 2014.
Tsegay lost out on the world record in February 2023, but her time of 4:16.16 was the second-fastest ever at the time.
In the same month, she came within 0.09 seconds of Dibaba’s global indoor 3000 m record, posting a blistering 8:16.69 at the global Indoor Tour final in Birmingham.
