Tate McRae Parents: Meet Tanja Rosner, Tanja Rösner

Tate McRae is a Canadian singer, writer, and dancer. She is the daughter of Tanja Rosner and Tanja Rösner.

Her father is of Scottish ancestry, and her mother is of German ancestry. Her father is a lawyer and her mother is a dance teacher.

She relocated to Oman with her family when she was four years old, due to her father’s profession, and stayed there for three years.

Her father was the vice president for legal affairs for OXY in Muscat, Oman.  In his early years, he worked as an associate lawyer at Ballem Maclnnes, Donahue Ernst & Young LLP, and McCarthy Tetrault.

Tate McRae attended The American International School Muscat (TAISM) while in Oman. From the age of 11, she began training in all types of dance at YYC Dance Project, a dance company founded by her mother, as well as ballet instruction at the School of Alberta Ballet, the Alberta Ballet Company’s training school.

Her debut studio album, I Used to Think I Could Fly, was released on May 27, 2022. Tate attributes her success to Tanja and Todd. She credits them as the biggest source of inspiration in her life. Tucker McRae, Tate’s younger brother, is a Dartmouth hockey player.
