American mixed martial artist Cody Gibson, who debuted in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on September 11, 1987, competes in the Bantamweight division.

Cody’s friend asked him to check out a mixed martial arts gym in Exeter, California, when he was home from college for the summer. Only a few weeks after starting training, he engaged in his first professional battle after discovering that he enjoyed fighting. Cody would participate in three professional fights over the course of the following two years while still wrestling in college, despite not having had considerable training in any sports other than wrestling. Still, he was able to start his MMA career off strong with a 3-0 record.
