In 1997, he was named an honorary veteran of the Armed Forces.

He became famous for his works on network radio, television, and USO Tours.

Hope was born in England, on May 29, 1903, and appeared in over 70 films, stage productions and television series during his lifetime.

He wrote 14 books and anchored the Academy Awards about 19 times.

Hope additionally worked as a broadcaster and presenter on NBC Radio, and the NBC television network.

Hope retired from public life in 1998, but before then, he received many honours and awards, including five honorary awards by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Hope passed away on July 27, 2003, at the age of 100.
