Prior to joining West Ham United, he played for Radcliffe Borough, Bolton Wanderers, Rochdale, West Bromwich Albion, and Watford.
For the remainder of the 2020–21 campaign, Dawson joined West Ham on loan on October 12, 2020. At the conclusion of the loan, the club still had the option to make the deal permanent.
