Who Is Anna Carey?

Anna Carey is an author, journalist and singer famous for writing young adult novels.

Born in 1975, Carey first began as a singer at age 15, touring and recording music with the band El Diablo.

As a young adult, her first novel was The Real Rebecca, which won the Children’s Book of the Year in the Senior Category, at the 2011 Irish Book Awards.

Since then, Carey has written series of books including The Real Rebecca and its sequels, Rebecca’s Rules, Rebecca Rocks and Rebecca is Always Right.

Carey is the author of the historical fiction series The Making of Mollie. The book chronicles the women’s suffrage movement as far back as 1912. The book’s sequel, Mollie on the March, was published in 2018.

In 2020, Carey published the book The Boldness of Betty, which was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year in the Senior category, and the KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Awards.
