The investigation into Ian Watkins began in late 2012 when South Wales Police received information from an anonymous informant about Watkins’ involvement in child sex offenses.
The tip-off led to a comprehensive investigation into Watkins’ activities. During the investigation, police discovered evidence of Watkins’ communication with two female fans who were also involved in the sexual abuse of children.
As the investigation progressed, Watkins was arrested in December 2012, along with the two female fans involved in the conspiracy. In November 2013, he pleaded guilty to 13 offenses and was sentenced to 29 years in prison, with a further six years on extended license.
