Sheila Escovedo, is an American percussionist, singer, songwriter, and music producer. She is the daughter of Pete Escovedo and Juanita Gardere.

Her mother Juanita Gardere was a dairy factory worker, and her father Pete Escovedo is a percussionist with whom she frequently performs.
Sheila E.’s mother is of Creole-French/African descent, and her father is of Mexican-American origin. She was raised Catholic.
Her father led the 14–24 piece Latin big band Azteca. Sheila E. and her father were both presented with the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021
