Popular Indian art director, Nitin Chandrakant Desai has been reported dead. According to sources, he committed suicide by hanging in Karjat, Maharashtra, on August 2, 2023. He was 57 years old at the time of death.

Born on August 9, 1965, Nitin Chandrakant Desai starred in his first film in 1993 titled Bhookamp, however, he became popular after starring in 1942: A Love Story in 1994. He went on to star in several other movies including Parinda, Khamoshi, Maachis, Baadshah, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Raju Chacha, Salaam Bombay! Amok, and more.

He became a film producer in 2003 when he produced the film Desh Devi Maa Ashapura. He turned to producing TV series with Marathi serial Raja Shivchhtatrapati which became a hit. He also produced a biopic movie dubbed Balgandharva which was released in May 2011.
Desai Also debuted as a lead actor by the Marathi film Hello Jai Hind directed by Gajendra Ahire. He was a recipient of 4 National Film Award for Best Art Direction.
