Jess Search Obituary

Co-founder of Doc Society, Jess Search has died of brain tumor at age 54. She died on Monday, July 31, 2023.

Tributes have been pouring in after her death was announced.

“RIP to the icon Jess Search. A beacon of light, a Pied Piper for the traveling circus of documentary lovers. The first one on the dance floor and the last one at the dinner party. You’ll be missed,” Matt Dentler.

“Today, I honor the life of Jess Search, a dear comrade who was always building solidarity spaces and fertilizing the land so new narratives can flourish, I appreciate the lovely  moments we shared. All the love to her family, her loved ones and the entire team of The Doc Society,” Andrea Ixchiu.

“Oh Jess Search, what a loss to us all. A nuclear powerhouse of a woman, simply incomparable for her strength, passion, fearlessness, and wicked sense of humor. Hard to overstate what she brought to the world of documentaries and the lives of us she changed,” Olly Lambert.
