Track cyclist Matthew Richardson, from Australia, was born in 1999 and specializes in the UCI Track Champions League’s Sprint events. Prior to his nine-year-old migration to Western Australia, Richardson spent his formative years in the UK. Before an elbow injury kept Richardson from competing as a gymnast as a child, his love in cycling had already taken hold.

In 2019, Matthew, who advanced fast through the ranks, was accepted into Cycling Australia’s Podium Potential Academy.A turning point for him occurred in 2022. He won gold medals at the Men’s Sprint and Team Sprint competitions at the Commonwealth Games in July. Later that month, he won the Team Sprint event at the Tissot UCI Track World Championships.
