For importing 1 kg of drugs comprising 30.72g of heroin, Singaporean Saridewi Djamani was given the death penalty in 2018. On June 17, 2016, Saridewi, who had committed the crime, was apprehended together with her accomplice in Anchorvale Road, Sengkang.

According to reports, Saridewi was the first woman to be hanged in Singapore in nearly 20 years following Yen May Woen’s execution in March 2004. International protests and cries for mercy were directed at the Singaporean government as Saridewi’s execution date approached.
Saridewi’s execution was carried out as planned, according to the CNB. They claimed that Saridewi had received a complete due process hearing and revealed that she had been unsuccessful in her bid for presidential pardon before she was executed.
