Saridewi Djamani, a Singaporean, was condemned to death in 2018 for smuggling one kilogram of heroin. Saridewi, who committed the crime on June 17, 2016, was apprehended with her accomplice on the same day in Anchorvale Road, Sengkang.

Saridewi was said to be the first woman to be hanged in Singapore in nearly 20 years, following Yen May Woen in March 2004. As Saridewi’s execution date approached, the Singapore government was faced with international condemnation and cries for mercy.
Saridewi’s execution was carried out as planned, according to the CNB. They claimed that Saridewi was given full due process and that she had also lost her petition for presidential pardon prior to her execution.
