Saridewi Djamani, a Singaporean, was condemned to death in 2018 for smuggling 1 kg of heroin. Saridewi, who committed the crime on June 17, 2016, was apprehended together with her accomplice on the same day in Anchorvale Road, Sengkang.

Saridewi was reputedly the first woman to be hanged in Singapore in nearly 20 years, following Yen May Woen in March 2004. As Saridewi’s execution date approached, the Singapore government was confronted with international condemnation and clemency requests.
The CNB announced that Saridewi’s execution had taken place as planned. They claimed that Saridewi had received complete due process and that she had also lost her petition for presidential pardon prior to her execution.
