Saridewi binte Djamani was a Singaporean who was sentenced to death in 2018 for smuggling 1 kg of drug containing 30.72g of heroin. Saridewi, who committed the offense on 17 June 2016, was arrested on the same day together with her accomplice at her HDB block in Anchorvale Road, Sengkang.

Saridewi was reportedly the first woman scheduled to be hanged in Singapore in nearly 20 years after Yen May Woen in March 2004. As Saridewi’s execution drew near, the government of Singapore was met with international criticism and pleas for clemency.

The CNB confirmed that Saridewi’s execution had been carried out as scheduled. They stated that Saridewi had been accorded full due process and also revealed that she also lost her petition for presidential clemency prior to her hanging.

Saridewi Djamani, 45, was sentenced to death in 2018 for trafficking about 31 grams of diamorphine, or pure heroin, the Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore said.
It said the amount was “sufficient to feed the addiction of about 370 abusers for a week.”
