Cunningham’s death was announced on Instagram by the CESD Talent Agency, which he created.
Born in 1927 in San Francisco, Cunningham was also a World War II veteran. His love for movies was evident when he was very young.
Cunningham got his start on Voices of Walter Schumann and The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show, before singing on soundtracks for multiple studios and appearing in many commercials.

In addition, Cunningham, the original Ken voice for Mattel, toured with Judy Garland and had his debut album, I’m Always Chasing Rainbows, sponsored by Fred Astaire.

Cunningham put his life money into Pacific Artists Agency in 1963 at the advice of Peggy Taylor. Cunningham & Associates was formed four years later in Los Angeles.
In 1971, offices in New York and Chicago were added, propelling the company, now known as CESD and directed by Ken Slevin and Paul Doherty, to become the industry’s most successful bicoastal commercial/VO talent agency.
Cunningham retired in 1989 and published his memoir, I Wonder What Became of Me, in 2014, 25 years after retiring.
