What happened to Brad Guzan?

Sometime in April 2023, football star Brad Guzan sustained a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee.

He had suffered the injury during a game against New York City FC, and the incident had kept him out of play for about 10-12 weeks.

Who Is Brad Guzan?

Brad Guzan is a soccer goalkeeper who has played for Atlanta United FC since 2017, and the United States national team since 2008.

Born on September 9, 1984, in Illinois, United States, Guzan played college soccer for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he was named to the second-team All-American.

In 2005, he was drafted as second overall by the Chivas USA in the MLS SuperDraft. His time spent with the team saw him win the Goalkeeper of the Year in 2007.

In 2008, he began playing for Premier League club Aston Villa, where he spent eight seasons, and made 171 appearances.

Guzan has played for various clubs in Major League Soccer (MLS), in the English Premier League (EPL), and in the English Football League (EFL).

Some of them include the South Carolina Gamecocks, Chicago Fire Premier, Chivas USA, Aston Villa, Hull City, Middlesbrough.

Guzan has been a significant part of the United States Men’s National Soccer Team.

He has helped the team win three CONCACAF Gold Cups, and played for them at the Olympics, Copa América, the FIFA Confederations Cup and the Copa América Centenario.
