American former professional baseball player Scott Rolen officially retired from professional baseball on March 7, 2013.

He made the announcement through a press release, signaling an end to his illustrious 17-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Rolen’s retirement came after an impressive playing career that saw him establish himself as one of the premier third basemen in the history of the sport. He had played for several teams during his career, including the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cincinnati Reds.

Rolen was a seven-time All-Star and one of the best defensive third basemen of all time. He also won eight Gold Glove Awards throughout his career, the fourth most among third basemen.
