From 1996 through 2012, Scott Rolen played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cincinnati Reds.
Rolen began his career with the Phillies, where he was voted National League Rookie of the Year in 1997. After being traded to the Cardinals, Rolen became remembered for two famous playoff home runs.

One of them was a game-winning home run off Roger Clemens in Game 7 of the 2004 NLCS and a game-winning home run off Justin Verlander in Game 1 of the 2006 World Series.
Rolen was a seven-time All-Star and one of the best defensive third basemen of all time. He also won eight Gold Glove Awards throughout his career, the fourth most among third basemen.
After retiring from professional baseball in 2012, Rolen has kept a relatively low profile. Rolen was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its class of 2023.
