Mia Hamm is a retired American soccer player widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in the history of women’s soccer.

She is the daughter of Bill and Stephanie Hamm. Mia Hamm spent her childhood on several US Air Force bases throughout the world with her family.

Mia Hamm began playing football while living in Florence, Italy, where the sport was highly popular; her entire family immediately became involved in the sport.

She joined her first football squad at the age of five, when she was living in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mia and her recently adopted brother, Garrett were coached by her father.

Throughout her illustrious career, Hamm achieved numerous accolades and milestones. Hamm has two Olympic gold medals and two FIFA Women’s World Cup titles.

She was a forward for the United States women’s national football team from 1987 until 2004 and was hailed as a football hero. She was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame, was the first woman inducted into the World Football Hall of Fame.
