Jeffrey R. Holland is a clergyman and educator who served as the ninth President of Brigham Young University (BYU) from 1980 to 1989.
During his tenure, he played a significant role in the growth and development of the university.
Subsequently, Holland has served as the “president of the American Association of Presidents of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAPICU) and as a member of the NCAA’s presidents’ committee.”

Holland has won a few awards including the Torch of Liberty Award by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, and the Washington County Exemplary Manhood Award in 2013.
As a clergyman, Holland is known to be a prominent member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and the fourth most senior apostle in the church.
Holland has served in various leadership positions within the LDS Church and has been a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since 1994.
The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is one of the highest governing bodies in the LDS Church and consists of twelve men who are believed to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ.
