Matthew S. Holland is the oldest son of Jeffrey Holland. Matthew was born in 1966, and served as president of Utah Valley University from 2009 to 2018.

He is also a leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and has previously served as mission president in the church.
Holland has previously worked as special assistant to former Utah Governor Mike Leavitt, and chief of staff for Monitor Group, a top consulting firm in the U.S.

Holland is also a cleric, known to be a prominent member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and the fourth most senior apostle in the church.
He has served in various leadership positions within the LDS Church and has been a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since 1994.
The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is one of the highest governing bodies in the LDS Church and consists of twelve men who are believed to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ.
Holland has received a few honors for his contribution to the academia and the church. Some of them include the Torch of Liberty Award by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, and the Washington County Exemplary Manhood Award.
