Who Is Yamiche Alcindor?
Yamiche Alcindor is a journalist known for being a Washington correspondent for NBC News and for writing on socio-political issues.
Born on November 1, 1986, in Miami, Florida, Alcindor holds a bachelor’s degree in English and government from Georgetown University, and a master’s degree in “broadcast news and documentary filmmaking” from New York University.

At the beginning of her career, she worked at The Seattle Times, the Miami Herald, the Botswanan newspaper Mmegi, and The Washington Post.
Also, she has previously hosted Washington Week on PBS and served as a reporter for “PBS NewsHour, USA Today, and The New York Times.”
Alcindor has received several awards and nominations in her career. In 2020, the White House Correspondents’ Association awarded Alcindor the Aldo Beckman Award for Overall Excellence in White House Coverage.
In 2023, Alcindor announced her resignation from hosting Washington Week, citing that she needed to “focus on other duties and writing her memoir.”
Alcindor has previously been listed amongst the most influential African Americans under-45.
