In February 2023, renowned journalist Yamiche Alcindor announced she would be stepping down as moderator of Washington Week, to replace Robert Costa.

Alcindor gave her reasons to be “so she could focus on her commitments to NBC News & to finish her upcoming memoir.”

Alcindor had joined Washington Week in 2021. Before then, she worked as a PBS NewsHour White House correspondent.

Yamiche Alcindor is a well-known journalist and correspondent known for her work as a White House correspondent for PBS NewsHour, and a Washington correspondent for NBC News.

Alcindor began her journalism career in 2009 as a reporter for Newsday, in New York, where she covered local news and national politics.

She joined USA Today in 2015 as a national political reporter, covering the presidential campaign of Donald Trump.

In 2018, Alcindor joined PBS NewsHour as a White House correspondent, and gained recognition for her probing questions during press briefings and interviews with political figures.

Alcindor’s news reporting is often focuses on issues of race, social justice, and the intersection of politics and policy.

For her work in journalism, Alcindor has received numerous accolades such as the White House Correspondents’ Association’s Aldo Beckman Memorial Award and the Journalist of the Year award by the National Association of Black Journalists.
