Miikka Kiprusoff, the former professional ice hockey goaltender from Finland, officially announced his retirement from professional hockey on September 9, 2013.

He spent the majority of his career playing for the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League (NHL). Kiprusoff was highly regarded as one of the top goaltenders during his time in the league.

Throughout his career, Kiprusoff consistently ranked among the league’s top goaltenders. He won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s best goaltender in the 2005-2006 season and was a finalist for the award on three other occasions.
Kiprusoff also represented Finland in international competitions, winning a silver medal at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
He holds numerous Flames franchise records, including most wins in a season (45), most career shutouts (41), and the best single-season goals-against average (1.69). He ended his career as the Flames’ franchise leader in wins (305), shutouts (41) and games played by a goaltender (576).[
