A funeral service was held at Westminster Abbey, followed by a procession to Wellington Arch that featured around 3,000 military personnel and was watched by around a million people in central London., amid a row over the former king’s attendance.
According to reports, Juan Carlos I was asked not to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchéz. However, despite the alleged instruction, Juan Carlos I attended the Queen’s funeral.

It was the first time Juan Carlos I was captured at a royal event since his abdication in 2014, following a number of controversies.
Juan Carlos I was suspected of money laundering and tax evasion over a separate $100 million payment from the Saudi Arabian government. However, despite being cleared, he has still remained a very highly controversial figure in Spain.
He relocated to Abu Dhabi after the allegations broke, and has been living in self-imposed exile.
Officially, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were the official royals who represented Spain at the Queen’s state funeral.
