American author and screenwriter, Laird Koenig has been reported dead. According to sources, he died on June 30, 2023, due to natural causes. His death occurred in Santa Barbara.

Born on September 27, 1927, Laird Koenig attended the University of Washington and worked in advertising in New York before coming to Los Angeles in the 1960s.

He co-wrote the screenplay for The Cat (1966), starring Roger Perry and Peggy Ann Garner, then landed on Broadway in 1969 with The Dozens. The play lasted just four performances, however, it featured Al Freeman Jr., Morgan Freeman, and Paula Kelly.

Koenig also co-wrote the 1970 novel, The Children Are Watching with Dixon. The show was turned into the French film Attention Les Enfants Regardent (1978) and starred Delon.
His first book as a solo writer dubbed The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane was released in 1974. He also wrote a few episodes of Flipper alongside Dixon. They created seven episodes of the adventure series during the show’s three seasons from 1964 to 1967, and on one 1970 installment of another NBC Show, The High Chaparral.
Some of his novels also include The Neighbour, Islands, Rockabye, The Disciple, Morning Sun: The Story of Madam Butterfly’s Boy, and more.
