Rose McGowan is an American actress, activist, and author. She is the daughter of Daniel McGowan and Terri McGowan.

Her father  Daniel McGowan was an artist, and Terri her mother was a writer. She has two half-siblings. Her father was the leader of an Italian chapter of the Children of God, which he and his wife belonged to until 1978.

Rose McGowan spent her early infancy at the communes of the group, frequently travelling over Europe with her parents. She became a child model through her father’s art contacts in Italy, and she appeared in Vogue Bambini and many other Italian magazines.

When she was ten years old, her parents went to the United States and lived in Eugene, Oregon. When her parents split, she moved to Seattle, Washington, to live with her father, where she attended Roosevelt High School and Nova Alternative High School and worked at McDonald’s.

She studied ballet till she was 13 years old. At the age of 15, she declared her independence from her parents and relocated to Los Angeles. McGowan began her acting career in the early 1990s and gained recognition for her roles in films such as “Scream” (1996), “Jawbreaker” (1999), and “Grindhouse” (2007).

Beyond her acting career, Rose McGowan has become a leading voice in the #MeToo movement, which aims to expose and address sexual harassment and assault.
